Rules of Procedure

We have set up our Rules of Procedures, which are mentioned and included to the new statute of the IFBDO. They are not a final and unchangeable document, so please take a look at (it will be sent to you) and let us know your comments, additions, doubts etc.

National Youth Committees

Our next important task is to start national youth committees in your countries. Thereby we can continue our youth work inside of our donor organizations and follow up the activities we have already started.

Those of you who do not have blood donor organization in your countries, try to convince other people how important that is, because together we can do more. If you already have the donor organization, but it is not a member of IFBDO, try to join it – IFBDO has already proved itself as an effective system, which can help you by promoting blood donation in your countries.

Youth Forums

One of the projects that we do is of course the youth forum, which should be held every year. For the next year it is already decided, that the youth forum is going to be in Tunisia. Since there are nobody from Tunisia presented here, we must keep in mind, that we should use the time, energy we could, to help with the organization and not to leave it just for them to do, then we all could have a better forum.

For start, we could discuss here - what are things that we should keep in our forums from this year forum, what else should we have, should we change something?

Suggestions about the workshops:

Smaller groups for discussions – 8 persons for example.

Topics should be discussed before.

1 hour and 30 minutes is good enough for workshop, we should continue like that.

We could invite one expert for day to do a lecture.

Possible subjects: Effectiveness of advertisement (flyers etc) – to invite an expert of communication for example…A doctor to talk about diseases, hematologist – a specialist of blood.

At first – all participants could be in same room then they are divided into the groups. Discussing on the same time or doing similar tasks, later gathering together

Instead of sitting around the table and just to talk one after another, we could do more active discussions, disputes, brainstorming etc.

We should do not only discuss it here but to do something more visible with pictures or with PowerPoint presentations – so people are prepared for the workshops as well.

Suggestions for the first night - market

We can ask people to take with them video films, posters etc and discuss, what is effective and what not and see what kind of things other countries are doing.

There could be prepared presentation of your country in addition to the marketing – music, karaoke or play or whatever.

Market is something traditional that we should keep on going.

If its your first time and you just come alone, it is hard to get started – we should have some ice-breaking games to get to know everybody.

One of the sections could be the presentation of the countries –etc.

Suggestions for the social evenings

One country, other than the host could be responsible for social events on evenings – one country for one evening, one country for another. If one knows before that they should prepare something, it will turn out better. Another good thing behind that the social evenings are on other responsibilities than host, is that host country has so much to do with preparation anyway, but if some other country is thinking about the social program, it will not be burden to them, but fun, and possibility to get more people involved beforehand.

Suggestions for the organization

Visa problem – the host should send out invitation as soon as possible. Like last year - 1 year before you could know that the next forum is going to be in Estonia. Now we also already know about next year, can start preparing…

Good way to have more people on the forum is that we ourselves disclosure the next forum, so people really know about it.

There are lot of countries that are missing the forum – everybody should find sponsors to get to the forum!

If for Your country of organization money is no problem, it is important, that we find ways to help other countries, help them to come to the forum

Letícia: We need volunteers for the next forum – country representatives or individuals who will be responsible for different things! International Youth Committees responsibility is to prepare the program I will try to contact with Tunisia and find out, what have they started to do by now.

Every country should prepare something – 1-2 months earlier you probably know it, if the country is coming or not, then we will give you some tasks, ok? /everybody agrees/

Website

Right now a volunteer is preparing our website. If some of you would help us, it would be easier, it would be ready sooner and better!

Reports – Everybody presented here should send us – to Leticia or to Kadi the country reports about the blood donor situation in your country. Then we can put them also on the web so other countries can go and see what are you doing.

Romania volunteers to help with the website.

New Activities

In the earlier workshop it was proposed the idea to do something together in all countries:

Circle of blood donation - Singapore will start in 10 in the morning, European countries follow and Brazil will end the circle – we are giving blood for the whole day and make a big event of that. Maybe on 14th of June we could do it.

Blood run – On the same day in all countries we will run (in our blood donor t-shirts) and promote the blood donation. Kadi proposed to do it on the Sunday, 11th of June before the World Blood Donor Day. We could disclosure the World Blood Donor Day.

To make the projects happen, a volunteer to put the idea in the paper was asked. Singapore volunteered!

We can think more if and how the youth as a part of IFBDO could participate on the main blood donor day celebrations.

Between the forums, maybe we could do some regional work, regional conferences etc. Think about that!

Fundraising - Mikkel

If you know some good places, organizations etc to get money from, let me know, I cannot do the all fundraising myself.

Another thing: young people who have access to the presidency of their local organizations, could talk to them to get letters of support to the youth activities. And go to the Local organizations for money or any other kind of support.

Maybe some companies would finance youth projects instead of participation on the youth forum – we should think about many options. Nobody will however give money for abstract matters, so we need to have something concrete to ask money for.

Any suggestions to find a company that will support us generally, would be great!

Treasurer is for IYC, but our account is common with IFBDO

Proposition:

If the country members pay their participation fee for the forum,10 % or that could go for the Treasurer of the IYC for our activities.

SUMMARY:

Help the IYC – write projects, help with the websites, think about new forum, etc!

Those countries that do not have representatives, give Kadi the name and address or your representative, so that we can be in contact with you!
